Common challenges include:

Misinterpreting nonverbal communication or body language in neurotypical individuals
Misunderstandings in common social interactions
Difficulty initiating conversations with colleagues or partners
Difficulty expressing emotions
Feeling misunderstood in everyday interactions in home, community and work settings
Difficulty advocating for oneself regarding neurodivergent communication styles and necessary accommodations
How Deeper Roots Can Help
At Deeper Roots Speech Therapy, we support neurodivergent adults by teaching self-advocacy, perspective-taking, and social problem-solving skills to improve social interactions and communication outcomes in a variety of settings, such as school, interviews, work and personal relationships.
We also provide training for neurotypical individuals on the differences between neurotypical and neurodivergent communication styles to decrease communication breakdowns and improve relationships.
